Nevers and Company has been distributing cold heading quality steel wire to the manufacturing sector since 1977. From our warehouse in Rockford, Illinois, we serve fastener manufacturers and OEM hardware producers across the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico — with same-day shipping for stocked items and a focus on one product category we know thoroughly.
Our story
Nevers and Company was founded in 1977 by Toby Nevers. From the beginning, the business focused on a single product category: cold heading quality steel wire for the fastener manufacturing industry. That focus hasn't changed in nearly five decades, and three generations of the Nevers family have operated the business since.
What started as a small Illinois distributor has grown into a trusted source of CHQ wire for fastener manufacturers across North America — but we've stayed deliberately specialized. We don't carry rebar, structural steel, or general-purpose wire. We carry cold heading quality steel wire, and we've spent decades learning the grades, the mills, the applications, and the customers that depend on it.
Nevers and Company was the first steel wire distributor to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification — a quality management system we've maintained continuously ever since. What we do
Nevers and Company is a specialized distributor of cold heading quality (CHQ) steel wire. We stock the seven grades that drive North American fastener manufacturing — C1006 through 4037 — in coil form, ready to ship from our Rockford, Illinois warehouse.
We don't sell rebar. We don't sell structural steel. We don't sell general-purpose wire. CHQ is the focus of the business — and decades of focus on that single product category, since 1977, give us a depth of technical knowledge and mill relationships that broader distributors can't match.

Who we serve
Our customers are fastener manufacturers, screw makers, and OEM hardware producers across North America. They range from high-volume screw lines producing millions of pieces per shift to specialty fastener shops making custom hardware in smaller runs. Common end-markets include automotive, construction, agricultural equipment, and industrial OEM.
What our customers share is a need for the right material, on time, with the right documentation. When CHQ wire is in stock and certified correctly, fastener production runs smoothly. When it isn't, production stops. Our job is to make sure it doesn't.
